High Reliable, Low Cost Plc Transmission over 3-phase Lv Network Using Single Phase Modem

The paper presents the advantages of using a single one-phase PLC (Power Line Communications) modem for last-mile communications over the three-phase LV network, which is dedicated to supply road and street Smart Lighting system. The main benefits of the proposed solutions are more reliable traffic concentrators and lower the cost of their construction. Using analytical method or based on the results of experiments curried out in the laboratory installations or in field-trials Smart Lighting communication systems demonstrated that the disadvantages of natural incoming on an initial analysis of the proposed solutions are seeming or are of minor importance. The paper presents also a well-known method of a PLC modem adaptation to work in three-phase circuits with the novel, simply method of capacities calculation in coupling (with LV network) circuit of the PLC modem.
